Greenwood Performing Arts works to enhance the quality of life for area audiences of all ages by presenting diverse, professional artistic performances that entertain and educate.

There are countless benefits to involving children in arts programs, and the numbers speak for themselves. Here are a few facts about how the arts are improving lives across the board.

Students with high arts participation and low socioeconomic status have a 4 percent dropout rate—five times lower than their low socioeconomic status peers.

Students who take four years of arts and music classes score an average of over 150 points higher on the SAT than students who take only one-half year or less.[2]

Low-income students are highly engaged in the arts are twice as likely to graduate college as their peers with no arts education.[3]

A recent study showed that arts education experiences reduce the proportion of students in school receiving disciplinary infractions by 3.6 percent.[4]

Our organization was founded in 1946 by a group of visionaries in Uptown Greenwood, South Carolina, who wanted to bring professional and high-caliber performers into the community.

This is more than great showmanship. This is about making the Greenwood, South Carolina community a better place to live, work and grow. Together. With the help of our patrons, volunteers sponsors and members, the Greenwood Performing Arts makes top-tier entertainment accessible to our area’s seniors, youth and special needs audiences.
The Show Must Go On
Donations to the Greenwood Performing Arts support the cost of performers, travel fees, audio/visual support at events, catering, venue rentals, outreach efforts and more!
